Right, listen carefully guys. Hands up if you remember the Stylophone Original from your childish, younger days. Now, Keep those hands
in the air if you can't wait to play the Stylophone again! Well, now you can, as the retro Stylophone Original has been dusted down, polished up,
and relaunched across the UK in 2008.
This bizare little electronic organ was all the rage back in the late sixties and early seventies, selling over three million units in the UK alone. The Stylophone's
success was largely down to that beardy, didgeridoo-playing Aussie - Rolf Harris.
Originally marketed as 'The Electronic Organ In Your Pocket' nobody anticipated the number of sales that were achieved. A large scale advertising campaign for the Stylophone Original proved hugely successful, involving television commercials, billboards, newspaper adverts and radio announcements. The UK went
mad as the stylophone craze swept the nation.
You might be asking yourself what was all the fuss about? Well, measuring 158mm x 97mm x 38mm, this unique little electronic organ consists of a touch-sensitive keypad,
a stylus, volume control, power control, vibrato control, MP3 input and headphone output.
The Stylophone Original can be played much like a modern electronic keyboard, however, rather than use
your fingers to press the keys, you touch the keypad with the stylus provided.
The sound produced by the Stylophone Original can only be described as a bizarre, electronic, BEEEEEEP! The character and charm of this retro electronic instrument has captured
the hearts of many mainstream outfits including Pulp, David Bowie, Kraftwerk and Marilyn Manson. They've all used the unique sound of the Stylophone to add
an electronic twist to their recordings.
The new MP3 input feature on the Stylophone allows you to play along to your favourite tracks, which can be highly amusing! The vibrato feature adds an extra twang to the
Stylophone output, and the pitch control allows different BEEPs to be played.
